When I married my husband, a Marine, I was already well versed in the military lifestyle. My Father had been a Coast Guard captain and I had become quite accustomed to the process of separation. Being away from the person meant to share your life with is one of the most difficult situations to arise in a marriage for a multitude of reasons. First and foremost, work is not supposed to take priority over your family unless there just isn’t any employment close to home. Even then a couple should discuss their options on how far away is the limit and amount of time away from home the spouse will be gone.
