"Hi Honey, I'm Home!": Nothing Says "Homecoming" like Gorilla Masks and Scavenger Hunts!

Couples and families are often separated for days, weeks, or even months due to the demands of work. A long-distance lifestyle can put a crimp in even the most solid of romantic and familial relationships. To combat the stress involved in frequent or lengthy separations, you - the traveler - may wish to put forth a little extra effort. Surprising your partner or children with something special can go a long way towards spicing up your homecoming!

If you have been separated from your wife or girlfriend, they might be feeling romantically neglected. Attacking her as soon as she opens the door, in order to get her in bed, might not be the most savvy approach! Flowers and chocolates, as cliche as they seem, might help ease the transition, if you are short on time and imagination. For those wanting to make a stronger impression, try one of these unique suggestions:

- Dressing up (NOT in a gorilla costume!) and making sure you smell nice will go a long way towards making a positive first impression. Arrive with Chinese take-out, wine, and candles for a romantic living-room picnic she won't soon forget!

- Before you leave on your trip, strategically hide some romantic items (ie, bath salts, sexy lingerie, expensive perfume, romantic music, candles, and blindfold) around the house. Send her text messages throughout the day leading up to your return, giving her hints as to where to find each item. Have her waiting, blindfolded, in bed for you; when you arrive, plan to take your time making your absence up to her!

In contrast to many women, a husband or boyfriend that has been left at home alone for weeks or months may prefer mad, passionate love first, and save the romance for later!

- Change into sexy lingerie at the train station/airport restroom and cover up thoroughly with a long overcoat. As soon as he opens the door, let your coat fall open - the rest will take care of itself!

- If your husband has been at home with the kids while you've been away, he might be feeling a little overwhelmed and under-appreciated. After giving him a kiss, hand him the car keys and send him off for a few hours to his favorite bar or friends' house. After you pack the kids off to bed, set the stage for a hot, steamy night of "reconnecting" with your mate after he has had a chance to unwind.

Children often don't comprehend the reasons you need to be away, and their skewed perception of time may make a week-long trip seem like a month. Try these fun tips to help reconnect and ease hurt feelings when you return:

- The gorilla suit that probably wouldn't do much to impress your wife could work wonders for your kids! Arriving in a silly mask or outfit is a sure-fire way to turn a reticent child into a giggling goof!

- Tucking little gifts (candies, small toys or mementos from your trip) into your various pockets and letting the kids literally jump on you and find them can be a great way of easing tensions and reconnecting physically.

With just a little extra effort, creativity, and planning, you can make your homecoming a more memorable experience for everyone!
